Below is a materials list of suggested requirements for students to bring on any of my painting workshop holidays.
PAPER.
I use Baohong watercolour paper and recommend old pressed medium paper for students.
Colours include:
- Ultramarine blue.
- Cerulean blue.
- Cobalt blue.
- Cyan or Phthalo blue ( also could substitute Antwerp blue or Winsor blue).
- Indian yellow.
- Lemon Yellow.
- Burnt Sienna.
- Burnt Umber.
- Sepia.
- Quinacridone Gold.
- Indigo.
- Viridian.
- Alizarin crimson.
- Winsor violet.
- Turquoise.
- White gouache.
- Daniel Smith Pyrelene Green.
BRUSHES.
Several sizes of each of the following:
- Hakes.
- Mops.
- Riggers.
- Flat synthetics.
- Round synthetics.
- Filberts.
- Fans ( oil painters bristle fans).
MISCELLANEOUS.
- Lidded Palette.
- Water container.
- Hair dryer plus extension lead.
- Two small towels.
- Tissues.
- 6B graphite pencil.
- Backing board at least a half sheet size.
- Light-weight aluminum field easel ( optional).
- Small hand mirror.
- White eraser (not kneadable).
- Umbrella to attach to easel.
- Duct and masking tape.
